Ava's First Bubble Bath

Last night while Bradley was lowering Ava's crib, Ava and I took a bubble bath. I only put a little bit of bubbles in, but boy did that little squirt produce a ton of bubbles! Ava had fun splashing around and playing and loved the bubbles! As you can see in one of the pictures, she went face down into some of them.


Here are some Ava changes from this week:

• We had to lower Ava's bed because she is trying to pull up on the rails and I had awful visions of her flipping herself over the side of the bed.


• She has now had her first relaxing bubble bath.


• Every once in a while during her crawling she will pop onto her butt in a sitting position. It usually doesn't last long, but she is doing it on her own.


• She has started to enjoy some fruit and not just go mush mouth on us when we feed it to her.


• She has started wearing size 12 month and some 18 month clothes.

We have a busy weekend planned. Tomorrow if the weather is nice, Ava is going to an Easter egg hunt. I am looking forward to it! We have been practicing and I think Ava is ready! We are also having company (Nana and Pop) for dinner tomorrow night since we bought some meat to support Project Graduation. So we will be eating good. At some point we need to squeeze in an Easter Bunny visit. Man, we'll need a weekend just to rest up from this weekend! Have a great one everyone!

Ava's First Flower and Passed out in a Stroller

I picked a tulip the other day and let Ava smell it (she smelled it right before she tore it in pieces). You can tell by the look on her face that it wasn't very fragrant.

The other pictures are of Ava after finishing a walk with her Nana the other afternoon. You can tell the fresh air just really relaxes her.

And here's a pretty picture of the moon from between the trees in our backyard. I thought it was neat looking.

A surprise visit

This past Sunday, we got a phone call from Pop saying that Bradley's aunt and uncle wanted to come see Ava. After a mad dash of trying to get stuff a little more presentable, they showed up to visit with Ava for a few minutes. They keep up with Ava's happenings here on the blog, but hadn't seen her since Christmas so she had changed a lot. Of course everyone was getting a kick out of her crawling and chasing after Pop's watch. What can I say, my baby already is attracted to gold, diamonds, and jewelry in general!

New Pictures

Sorry it has taken me a while to update the blog. I started back to work this week and it has been so stressful. I can't wait for this semester to be over! Only 45 days left (I even have the number posted on my board to count down!). Ava has been keeping us super busy. Gone are the days of her playing on her little pallet and being content. The days are now chasing Ava's crawling little booty (usually into the dog bed or aquarium) and trying to keep her from damaging household items or herself. Here are some pics from the last few days.

Ava - The Crawler

After much practicing over the last 2 weeks and lots of coaxing, Ava is finally crawling! Yay Ava! She finally did it yesterday afternoon in her attempt to secure the remote control. All I have to do is put a remote control some distance away, and there she goes for it. She crawls maybe 3 or 4 "steps," collapses, then gets up and goes again! I am just so excited! She is also trying to pull up on things. She is not strong enough to make it yet, but she is really trying.

These last few days, we have spent a lot of time outside, watching Squiggles, watching cars go by, and just enjoying the nice weather. We have some flowers in bloom that we looked at this morning. It is just beautiful here and I can't wait for leaves to hurry up and appear. Bradley is working on putting a swing together that my parents got us for Christmas so we can all sit outside with Ava and enjoy this beautiful weather!

Ava's Shots, Round 3

Ava had a Dr.'s appt yesterday for a check-up and her third round of shots. Boy let me tell you, she was in a mood before we even got there and it only got worse! Then, not only did they give her 2 shots and some oral type of vaccine, they did some blood work! It was really only a finger prick that they had to squeeze a lot of blood out of, but you would have thought we were killing her! It was so sad. I tried to tell her she should be happy because at least she got a Hello Kitty Band-Aid, but a 7 month old obviouslt doesn't care about the consolation of the Hello Kitty band-aid. Anyway, glad that is over. She goes back in 2 months just for a check-up and no more shots.

Anyway, the blood work was to check her blood for lead since we live in a house built before 1960. Yep, that's us, our house was built in 1924, so Ava qualifies for the lead test (and they also check for anemia since they have her blood). Anyway, the nurse starts to tell us about kids who have gotten high levels of lead in their bodies from things besides paint. Are you ready for this, one child had high levels of blood from chewing on fishing lures! Fishing lures! Apparantly his dad is an avid collector and they gave the baby a metal lure to teeth on. Idiot number 2 - This baby loved to chew on his mom's keychain which had a bullet on it! A BULLET! Are you kidding me! A civil war collectible bullet, but a bullet no less! Anyway, we hope Ava's lead levels are fine. We try to keep her away from lures and bullets, and we only let her eat paint chips once a day! But seriously, if we haven't heard from them by the end of the week it means her tests we fine. Keep your fingers crossed! Well, someone's awake, have a great day!

By the way, she weighs 19 lbs. and 5 oz. and is 27 and 1/2 inches long now.
