The Conversation with Ava

This particular conversation went a little something like this:

(Set the scene- Harrison had just spit up while I was holding him. Ava comes to the rescue...)

Ava: Momma, I just cleaned up all that spit up off the floor that Harrison did.

Momma: Ava, hold still while I get the camera.

Ava: Why?

Momma: Just because....

Ava: Momma, what are you taking pictures of?

Momma: (laughing uncontrollably and thinking that a freak out is coming)

Momma: I'm taking pictures of your hair....

Ava: Why?????

Ava: What is that?

Momma: Harrison spit up on your head too...

Ava: Get it off! Get it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mommy..... (insert lots of crying here...)

and here...................

and anger here....
Ava: Mommy, why you make me do that?
Mommy: (just more laughing....)

Too big for his britches

Harrison started pulling up onto furniture right around the day he turned 6 months old. I wanted to catch this milestone on film so I waited for him to pull up and grabbed the camera. When I called his name, he turned to look at me and then a second later he decided to come towards me. And then I think he realized "Uh, oh! I can't walk yet!" The next picture would have been his face hitting the ground because that is where he went; straight down onto the ground. Poor baby! He is trying to be too big for his britches and grow up too fast!

Harrison at 6 months

Here is a look at Harrison at 6 months:

  • You are a big boy! You weigh 20 pounds and 5 oz and are 28 and 3/4 inches long.

  • You wear 12 month clothes, but an 18 month also fits, and 24 month onesies do the trick too.

  • You LOVE broccoli and chicken baby food.

  • You are addicted to baby "puffs" and shove them into your mouth by the handful.

  • You are a Momma's boy!

  • You squeal a lot and like the sound of your own voice. You also like to growl.

  • You wear size 3 diapers, but will be going into a 4 as soon as we run out of 3's.

  • You love to cuddle.

  • You love the outdoors.

  • When you see Ava, your face lights up.

  • You have 2 teeth on bottom.

  • You are learning to use a sippy cup.

  • You usually don't sleep through the night.

  • You have outgrown your car seat!

  • You stick your tongue out a lot, especially when you are focused on something.

  • You crinkle your nose in one of the sweetest faces!

10 on Tuesday

Well, it has been a long time. I will try to sum up some recent happenings into a 10 on Tuesday.

  1. Yesterday was our annual Memorial Day cookout with the Watfords. I didn't even get out my camera.

  2. Speaking of cameras... I am so behind on taking pictures. I think these last two months I have stayed so busy with other people's pictures that I haven't taken the time to do my own family's.

  3. This past weekend my Aunt Bo and Uncle Mike came to visit. And I took a total of 4 pictures... :(

  4. Harrison is now 6 months old. I need to work on his photos soon.

  5. This is my last week of school. PRAISE the Lord!

  6. Ava is going to be participating in a cheer leading camp next week. I pray that she does well and doesn't give them too much trouble. I can't wait to see her perform at the end of camp.

  7. Harrison now has 2 teeth on bottom. I do believe that Gripe Water is a lifesaver. He has slept through the night for the last 3 nights (and it has been a while since that happened).

  8. Ava has been a real pain lately. I miss my sweet baby girl instead of this rude little gal.

  9. I have been yearning to scrapbook lately and have just ordered some new supplies.

  10. My mom is coming to visit next week.

At the park

I took these photos a few weeks ago when I took the kids to the park. Harrison enjoyed strolling and Ava enjoyed playing at the playground. She still refuses to go down the "big slide," but always climbs up and looks around.

Happy Birthday, Nana!

I've been bad about keeping up with birthdays on the blog. But since I had this recent picture, it reminded me that today is Nana's birthday! Happy Birthday, Nana! Thank you for taking such good care of my babies.

My First Mother's Day with Two...

Here are some photos from my first Mother's Day with both Ava and Harrison. It started off with a nice breakfast, had a crazy photo shoot in the middle, and ended with a nice Filet Mignon and baked potato. Great day and I got to spend it with the ones I love.

Can't you tell that she loves photo shoots...

Mother's Day Trip to KY

Last week we ended up out of school for 4 days due to flooding in the county. Ava, Harrison, and I enjoyed our time together and on Friday we headed up to KY to surprise my mom and dad with a visit.

It was Harrison's first night away from home and with him being such a horrible sleeper, it was a very unpleasant night. We did have a nice visit and Ava and Harrison got to spend time with Grammy and Gramps and also with my two grandmothers. Harrison had never met Mammaw, so he finally got a chance to see her. He also got a chance to meet his Uncle Nick Knock.

We stayed just the one night, but had a great visit.

Harrison at 5 months

Here's a look at Harrison at 5 months-

  • No surprise here, but he is a good eater. He currently eats rice cereal and oatmeal. He also eats bananas, applesauce, green peas, squash, green beans, and carrots. He detests peaches.

  • He has a funny, staggering crawl.

  • He always tugs at his ear while nursing. The doctor says that it's clear, but he still pulls it. Sometimes he falls asleep with it in his hand.

  • He is a COMPLETE Momma's boy. He is not content to let me leave the room.

  • When I walk into a room, he tries to swim towards me.

  • He is becoming more content to crawl and play for a bit on your own.

  • He is very interested in Ava's toys.

  • He likes to pull hair.

  • He tries to grab EVERYTHING. Most recently, it was handful of spaghetti off of my plate.

  • His favorite toys are his "noodle" and his chewing giraffe.

  • He is squeezing into 9 month clothes, but fits more comfortably into 12 month clothes.

  • Size 3 diapers

  • Size 4 shoes

  • He loves having his bottom gums rubbed.

Everyday Life

Just some recent everyday life shots.
This was Ava before we left for Nana's one morning. You can't see that she has 3 ponytails and she is wearing lip gloss. She loves to smear on her Ariel and Princess and the Frog lipstick.
When our washing machine broke, we were without a washer for about 4 days. They were the longest days ever. I am so thankful for this invention.
Straight up Momma's boy
Loving the bubble wrap

Note the fashionable hair style

Loving some sweet baby feet!

She said that she "worked hard" and needed grilled cheese and tomato soup.
You can barely see his road rash that he gets from crawling. Plus he has this beautiful slobber blister.

When he gets into her bed, he makes a beeline for the stuffed animals.
A gift from Aunt Bethany
