Harrison's First Haircut

After putting it off for several months, yesterday was the day...Harrison's first haircut. After waiting about an hour, it was finally his turn and the hysterics started the minute he sat in the chair and they didn't end until long after we left the building. Little man wanted no part of the haircut experience. But we were able to get it done and he looks like a new little man. He definitely looks even less like a baby now. :( Where is time going?

Captain Hook

The other day Ava decided to watch Peter Pan (does anyone else remember her obsession with him when she was 2?) and she HAD to dress like Captain Hook. This is what she came up with. Don't you like her pink hanger hook?

Going Shopping

After Harrison's Dr. appointment I had promised Ava we would make a stop by the new Chick-Fil-A. (Now I know not to, because they fry everything in peanut oil even though Harrison didn't break out.) None of us were impressed by the food, in fact, Ava refused to eat more than 1 piece of chicken and Harrison spit 2 separate pieces into the floor. But, Ava did love their Playland! That part was a hit! After an early lunch I took the kids to Wal-Mart to spend some money Aunt Bethany had sent them. Ava was the hardest to decide on what she wanted. Harrison immediately saw the Thomas the Train section and got a new Thomas, a ball, and a Little People car. After much deliberation, Ava left with what she calls her American Doll Rapunzel. She has played and played and played with that thing. Of course, its hair no longer looks like anything that it once resembled. How is that possible? The minute the doll comes out of the book, the hair becomes an instant afro! It made for a nice end to what was a rough morning. Thank you, Aunt Bethany!

Waiting....

what is he waiting on...truck. Baby boy loves trucks, cars, wagons, trains, basically anything with wheels. And anything on wheels, he calls a truck. He loves them, spends lots of time watching them, and gets excited about them.

This is one of my new favorite pictures right now because it is so him and who he is right now. Sweet Boy loving his trucks.

Anatomy of a White Trash Baby

We took an impromptu trip outside as the sun was setting so Bradley and Ava could plant pumpkin seeds. Since the sun was heading down, I didn't have time to dress Harrison, so I thrust my baby into white trashiness and then grabbed the camera to document it! Here he is in all his nasty, white trash baby glory!

Video- Ava practicing for the Christmas program

I found this little jewel hidden on the camera and I had forgotten all about it. I love stumbling across these little things that bring a smile to my face. This is Ava practicing her song for the preschool Christmas program. So funny and hard to believe how different she looks with her hair cut a little shorter.

They Love the Sandbox!

With the weather being so nice Ava has spent a lot of time in the sandbox outside. She loves digging in the sand, building castles, and "planting" things. Harrison also decided to play in the sandbox though he refused to sit in it. He preferred to stand on the outside and throw sand which led to a very brief playtime in the sand.

Harrison - 15 month Dr. Check-Up

Harrison went to the doctor this morning for his 15 month check-up (even though he will be 16 months tomorrow!). Over the past few months we have developed a couple of concerns about him. One is that we are 99.9% sure he is allergic to peanuts, and two, his legs have straightened a little, but not enough, and his feet are definitely turning in. So I went in wanting to make sure those concerns were addressed and we were on the right track.

Poor guy started off on a bad note because he started crying as soon as we got into the exam room. He knew what was coming and he was having none of it. After our doc checked him out and said how fantastic he was developing (weighing in at 26 lbs and 6 oz at the 75th percentile and measuring 33 and 1/4 inches long and rocking the 95th percentile), she said she was definitely concerned about his symptoms with the peanut butter and she felt it was time to refer him to an orthopaedic specialist about his legs and feet.

At such a young age, getting a lock on allergens is very difficult. She said that we would screen his blood now and then keep rescreening as his allergies changed and he aged. We also came home with a prescription for an Epi Pen, an instructional DVD, and a brief training on how to use it!

So we ended with a lot of crying, a lot of snotting, an extreme amount of clinging, 2 shots, a vial of blood, and a worn out boy.

We will visit the specialist next Friday to look at Harrison legs and feet. I really feel like it is a minor issue at this point and it can be corrected easily. I hope it is and I am going to have faith that it is. Please keep us in your prayers as we go next Friday to that appointment.

Playing Outside

Thank goodness the weather is getting nicer and that means we can make our way outside a little more. The one negative is that part of our fence is missing and Harrison is determined to go exploring! But we have had a lot of fun outside lately. One of those times was Saturday night when Pop came over for supper. Bradley grilled some of his AMAZING burgers and while they were cooking the kids got a chance to play with Pop and run out some of that energy!

A Couple More from St. Patty's Day

Here are a few more shots from St. Patrick's Day. The kids and I stopped by the buttercup field for a couple of pictures. I am hoping to get Ava out there for a mini-shoot, but we shall see. Harrison has had a horrible snotty nose which I am sure you can see from the photos from the past week, but we have been having a terrific break and I am sad it is coming to a close!

Tricky Leprechauns

This year those tricky leprechauns were at it again! Last year they colored Ava's milk green (which she refused to drink because Bradley told her it was leprechaun pee!), but this year they left her clues to find a treasure. Needless to say when she woke up this morning and saw a shamrock clue on her bed, I was awoken to the sounds of, "Daddy, someone left this for me!" She was so excited. We went from room to room searching for clues. There was even a clue on the refrigerator and her milk was once again green.

At the end of our search, the leprechauns had left Ava and Harrison some rainbow colored candy (M&M's) and some gold (pennies, which Bradley kept saying, "Those are copper." Okay Daddy Downer!). She was so stinking excited that I could barely contain my smiles. It was just a sweet magical moment for her. I loved every minute of it, even if Daddy kept rolling his eyes!
