Movie Monday - 7-12-10

Here is a random video of some of the things throughout our day today. I ran out of space on the camera, so it is mostly the morning and afternoon. Also, please disregard how annoying I sound on camera... ;)

4th of July Festive Wear

It is a tradition since Ava's first 4th of July. We always have to take the family's pictures in our Festive Wear. This is the first year that my parents got to experience the fun of donning the patriotic goodness and they were great participants. There is just something about getting decked out in this craziness and heading out where everyone can see you looking silly. I love it and look forward to it every year. This was the first year that Ava seriously prowled through all of the items and we did have a few casualties. I am now going to be on the lookout for some more, because if we continue to have a big crowd, we will need some more! (I am such a bad mother that I didn't get any pics of Ava in her festive wear. We had a dog adopt us for the day and Ava was so nasty and sweaty from playing that she didn't need to be on camera!)

4th of July - Part 1

We have had a busy couple of weeks here at the Rogers' House. The weekend of the 4th of July was busy with out of town family visiting and lots going on. I remember Ava's first 4th of July and Harrison's 1st didn't disappoint either. Ava and I did a few 4th of July crafts to get things started (and I really need to take a pic of the finished product), and then on Saturday we hosted a cookout at our house. My parents were visiting as well as Aunt Bethany and her boyfriend and his son, the Lesters. Before the cookout we enjoyed the heat outside on the deck and finally filled up Ava's pool for the first time. I can't believe we took so long to fill it up, but we finally did! Ava and my mom made chocolate covered pretzels with festive sprinkles and we just enjoyed some time visiting. Here are some pictures from the first part of the day. (and from Friday as well)
Ava fell asleep in her new star glasses.

10 on Tuesday - Wednesday Edition

1. Had lots going on lately and not a lot of free time. Ava and Harrison have kept me busy, busy, busy.
2. We had a low key father's Day around here. Bradley slept in and then we had a lazy day. (Well, except for that photo session I threw in there. More on that later!)

3. I spent a total of about 10 hours at the movies yesterday. Ava and I met some friends at the $1 Summer movie (Ice Age) and then I met some friends for the marathon Twilight/New Moon and midnight Eclipse. It was lots of fun! (Ava and her friend, Lindsey. The funny note Bradley had made as I was leaving for the theatre. FYI- I am SOOOOO Team Jacob!)
4. Harrison has turned 7 months old. I finally did a 6 month session with him which I will share later.
5. Ava has been working on preschool skills using the computer. It is a great tool for her and gives her a little break from Harrison and keeps her occupied.

6. I have stayed really busy with photo sessions this summer so check out my photography blog if you haven't in a while.
7. We finally got a chance to go see Toy Story 3 and we all loved it. I cried twice- at the beginning and at the end!

8. The other night Ava was so exhausted that Bradley found her asleep on the floor of her room.

9. This weekend for the 4th we will be having some company. Grammy and Gramps are coming for a visit and Aunt Bethany is coming home.
10. Ava and Harrison have both read 53 books for the Summer Reading program! I am so happy that Ava is enjoying it!

Pirate Day

Last weekend we attended Pirate Day at the library. After waiting in line for about 40 minutes Ava refused to ride through the parking lot on the pirate ship. She did finally consent to standing in front of it for a picture. This is the same pirate that Ava has met before at Depot Days named Captain Huck. You can read about him here - Captain Huck She was very skittish of him. I am starting to think maybe she just finds pirates scary because a couple of days ago at the puppet show they had some pirate puppets and Ava tried to hide behind me because she was scared. Good thing she wasn't this skittish when we were at Disney World!

Ava's name and Harrison's name
Excited to see her first glimpse of the pirates

Princess Ava

One day Ava spent part of the morning dressed as Snow White. She rolled out of bed and wanted to dress up, ratty hair and all!
