A Big Girl!

I have tried for years to get Ava to get her ears pierced. Bradley has always scared her into not doing it by telling tales of big needles and blood.

Then last night after getting some stick on earrings from her Subway meal, she brought up getting them pierced. I figured that we better strike while the iron was hot so even though it was 10 minutes until bedtime, we loaded up and headed to the mall to get them pierced.

On the way there we talked and talked about it. I really thought she would chicken out. However, the woman at Claire's was FANTASTIC! She was so great with Ava and even though Ava was clearly nervous, she went through with it.

I was so very proud of her. Of course the daisy earrings she picked fit her to a tee. Then today she of course wore her hair back to show off her new jewels. :)

Harrison saying "The Pledge of Allegience"

Here is a video of Harrison saying The Pledge of Allegiance. This is something new that he has learned while at Ms. Jeannie's. So blessed to get to capture this.

Harrison - The Fickle Love

Harrison loves to talk into my camera if he can see himself. Here he is telling me who all he loves (not me apparently) ;). Of course, Ava is true "News Six" fashion has a small camera bomb. :)

10 on Tuesday - November 2008 Flashback

I found this in my draft section of the blog. I had never added photos and published. Number one brought a smile to my face.
  1. We have been working with Ava on picking up her toys at night and cleaning up messes she has made. Some nights it is so frustrating trying to get all her stuff put back into place. Last night Bradley was enforcing the pick up and trying to get Ava to pack up all her Little People. She loves, loves, loves the Little People. She has issues with speediness of clean up, and wants to talk to each people individually as she puts them up. So last night, Bradley is frustrated with her and she insists on naming each animal and the sound it makes. Bradley jumps on to her and so instead of saying it out loud, she whispers each animal and sound out the side of her mouth. I was having to stifle my laughter the whole time! It was so classic!

  2. We have officially booked a trip to Disney World for March 16th-23rd. We will be staying on property at Port Orleans Riverside. Bradley and I stayed there in 2003 and it was beautiful! You should see Bradley and I with my legal pad planning out the trip and preparing to make reservations for character dinners for Ava. I am so excited!

  3. If Ava cooperates and feels artistic, you may see some crafts pop up on here tomorrow!

  4. One of Ava's new favorite foods is Campbell's Select Harvest - Potato Broccoli Cheese Soup. I make a can and split it with her. She will run to her high chair for "Broccoli Soup!!!!"

  5. Christmas decorations are out at stores around here and when Ava sees them, she says, "It's Christmas. Look Mommy, it's Christmas!"

  6. Back in the summer, Bradley was watching Spiderman 3 while Ava was in the room. This led to a lot of tears and lots of crying about 'monster.' In Sunday's paper there was ad about videos on sale at a local video store. Ava saw Spiderman's picture and said, "Look! A Monster!" She still remembers that monster after all these months. Bradley tried to explain that Spiderman was a good guy, but I guess to Ava he will always be a monster.

  7. I'm sure most of you have noticed the layout changes on the blog. I am trying to find a format that works for us and all the pictures we post. Just bear with me until I get it figured out.

  8. Not sure if we will be putting lights up outside this year due to the death of a portion of our shrubs. Something is killing them and we are about to have to suck it up and dig them up.

  9. We are already falling behind this holiday season. Usually we put our tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving, but this year we still haven't gotten out the first box. Maybe some decorating tomorrow while I bake a cake for Thanksgiving...

  10. I can't wait for this to come out... (INSERT TRAILER) Not sure what this was ;)

Ava's Video Blog

Ava recorded a blog entry. It is on video so we call it a vlog. Anyways, here it is. My Ava being silly.

Loving my babes/Recent Happenings

No matter what my mood is these kids always no how to make me smile. They always do something that brings a smile to my face and a giggle to my heart. It's just the little things that I always want to remember.

Gotta have his tractors. He always wants to carry something in the car.

Seriously? He was wearing Scout's collar and pretending to be a doggie.

My baby girl and I watching the Groundhog on Feb. 2nd.

Loving lazy days.

Almost a month?

It has been almost a month since I blogged. Wow. I can't believe that I have been such a slacker. So far, the last month has flown by and I can't believe we are in the second month of 2013.

As excuses for not blogging, I have a few. I am coming down off some of the busiest, most stressful, and depressing three weeks at my new job. It has just been rough, but I am trudging through.

The kids have been in rare form lately with Ava being into some trouble at school (for talking) and we are now having to find a new babysitter for Harrison. Hello stress!

To add to my sad mood, we lost one of my dearest friends to cancer at the age of 48.

Needless to say, my nights have been spent being sleepy, eating way too much, and just being in a funk.

But on the bright side, we seem to be making some breakthroughs with the kids on them picking up. We have had some bitter battles, but they are slowly starting to realize that we are not backing down and they are starting to do more without complaining. Let me tell you people, it was rough! They just have too much stuff!

Also on the bright side is that we are getting more active and involved in our church and I am LOVING it. Even Bradley has taken a leadership role and is a trustee for the church. So glad to have found my church family.

Plus, I have this family of mine that even though I get frustrated and even though sometimes I seem to be at my wits end, I wouldn't trade them for anything. They are my sweets. :)

Ava Rogers - Terrific Kid

We were so proud that Ava was recognized as Terrific Kid for her class this past 9 weeks. Ava has been working so hard at school and we are so proud of how well she is doing. I hope she continues to have a love of learning and wish that she worked as hard at home as she does at school. ;)

This is Ava and Ava H. who is one of our Daisy Scouts. So funny that they were dressed alike. :)

Christmas in KY

We traveled to KY right before New Year's to celebrate Christmas with Grammy and Gramps. We had a wonderful visit and just relaxed for the afternoon at their house. The kids loved their gifts and it was fun to have a Christmas after Christmas :).

Ava was making the same face as Santa in this picture. Cracks me up. :)

New Year's Eve/Bradley's Birthday

We celebrated Bradley's New Year's Eve Birthday a little differently than normal. We had a nice Italian meal and a couple of appetizers instead of the usual spread we do. We typically celebrate with the Rogers clan and the Watfords, but everyone was out of town so we just had a relaxing dinner and then some fun games.

Our preacher, Rev. Lea, even joined us for our yummy food and games. We drank a lot of sparkling grape juice and ate, ate, and ate. Harrison passed out at 9, but the rest of us braved the midnight train and rang in the New Year with our sparklers and toasts. Welcome 2013. :)
