Happy Halloween

I hope some of you get your cards in the mail, but I am afraid they will arrive Saturday or Monday. But anyway, Happy Halloween from the Rogers' Family!

Pumpkins at the Rogers' House

(I have no idea why the pictures are showing up so HUGE!)
This year we carved two pumpkins to sit on our porch. Usually we have several because it is an activity at the Halloweenie Roast, but this year we have only these two. I carved the Little Mermaid/Ariel pumpkin and Bradley carved the Jack Skellington pumpkin. Ava enjoyed watching, but refused to get her hands dirty. You can see her disgusted look when she saw the pumpkin guts. She did enjoy playing with the little hammer and trying to hit stuff. But the funny part was the conversation at the table. It went a little something like this...

Ava: Whatcha doing Daddy?

Daddy: I'm carving a pumpkin.
A: What's this Daddy?

D: Pumpkin stuff.

A: I help Daddy?

D: No.

A: Whatcha doing Daddy?

D: Carving a pumpkin?

A: What's this Daddy?

And on and on in a neverending Q & A session. Hilarious!

Other Halloweenie Pictures

This is the last of the Halloweenie pictures that are on my camera. (But now that I think about it, there may be some on my smaller camera.) I will download some more later when I get copies of the ones that Bo and Mike took.
If you want to know what we were doing, refer back to the precious post about the games for a little explanation of you need it!

3rd Annual Halloweenie Roast

Last Saturday we hosted our 3rd Annual Halloweenie Roast. We had several family members that traveled to attend and it ended up being a ton of fun. In the past we have spent the afternoon carving pumpkins and making a contest out of that. But with Halloween almost a week away, we decided to do things a little different this year and play Old Fashioned Games. We weren't able to get pictures of all the games because most of us were participating, but we did get a few.

I am going to start posting the ones that were on my camera, but were not necessarily taken by me. Here is a rundown of the games we played.
  • Coloring Contest - Won by Joe

  • Hot Pumpkin - like Hot Potato - Bo won

  • Mummy Wrap - won by Kenneth and April

  • Spoon Match - 1st Place Mike and 2nd Place Bradley - running with an egg on a spoon

  • Candy Corn Catch - Won by Bo and Mike

  • Feel you Up - Blindfolded you feel someone's body using a wooden spoon - won by April
  • karaoke - wins by Joe, Bethany, and April

We had a pecan tree limb break earlier this week and in the middle of the party it fell, so we harvested the pecans.

You can tell that Ava was so tickled to be playing Hot Pumpkin.
