Look What I found in the Potty / POTD 3/13

Guess she can lay eggs!

And today is Ava's 19 month Birthday! We celebrated with a photo shoot! I have been crazy busy getting stuff ready for a huge consignment sale this weekend. I think I have everything ready and will be dropping it off tomorrow and shopping early. This is usually where I get Ava's wardrobe at so I am hoping for some steals and deals. As you can see from one of my pics, our dining room is overflowing with Ava's old clothes and that's not even half of them.

Ava and I have been practicing egg picking up so at the hunt we will hopefully get more than 2 eggs this year. She can say egg and knows what they are and what to do with them.

I am posting a sneak peek from today's photo shoot. I will be sending these out soon with St. Patrick's Day/Easter cards. This shot is not good, it is blurry, but I love her expression and thought it was a good sneak peek.

Bradley surprised me with a trip to Jackson tonight. Thanks Joe and Anne for keeping Ava. I know it was such an inconvenience! ;) I will post a picture of my new Easter Bunny tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good week. And hey, it's almost Friday, well for me, I guess it already is!

Photos of the Day - 3/12

Today was a beautiful day here in TN. Ava and I went "Owside" twice today so she got a chance to enjoy this warmer weather.
I have also been playing around with my new Photoshop program and I am sure you can tell from a few of these photos. The top one I love with the vintage feel to it.

Playing with pecans.

Already posing for senior pictures.

Ava Happenings

It seems like Ava has grown up so much in the last couple of weeks. She is doing such big girl things now and just changing everyday. After the stress of last week (which she handled really well) we are getting back into our routines. Here is what she is up to:

  • She weighs almost 25 pounds and is 33 inches tall.

  • We have been practicing the potty with no recent successes. Ava does know what the potty is, where it is, and that you sit on it. She sits on the potty for M & M's. She can also tell you that, "Poop go down. Pee go down," when she is talking about flushing the toilet.

  • She is stringing words together into these cute little sentences.

  • She repeats EVERYTHING! This morning I was talking to her and she responded and I said, "Exactly!" She looked up at me and said, "Xactly."

  • She is still eating almost anything we put in front of her, but her appetite has slacked off a bit and she doesn't eat as much at one sitting. She is quick to tell you when she is done.

  • The word 'juice' is pronounced 'sluce.' She's got the word 'milk' down pat.

  • She sings constantly, but isn't dancing as much as she used to.

  • She reads books to herself and turns the pages as she goes, even calling out what some of the pictures are, like star.

  • She is scared when someone knocks on the door.

  • She is a social butterfly and loves visiting with people.

  • She loves to color and draw.

These pictures are of Ava this morning when I went into her room to get her out of bed.

Photo of the Day - 3/11

Today's Photo of the Day (or photos) are Easter Craft related. Ava and I have been working on making her own Easter cards to send out. The finished product is from today, but the card making pictures are actually from last week.

I hope this week is better than last week...

Last week was a crappy week. It was the last week of school before Spring Break so we had lots going on with exams and grades being entered. I spent the beginning of the week preparing for a trip home in case my grandfather passed away. I got a call Wednesday morning that he was probably not going to make it through the night so I got a sub for exams and Ava and I headed up to KY. We made it to Nanny and Poppy's at about 7 that evening. Poppy looked at Ava and I and knew who we were. Nick and I spent some time reading to him, talking to him, and telling him funny stories. Ava kept running into the bedroom yelling, "Poppy! Shhhh!" He ended up passing away at 11:07 that night.

The next day, something that I had been dreading for a while came into play. We had to put Squiggles, my 15 year old rat terrier, down due to arthritis and old age. It was one of the most horrible decisions I have had to make. The light at the end of the tunnel was being with her along with my mother, father, and two aunts. It was heartbreaking on top of such a recent loss, but I have no doubt that Poppy and Squiggles are together keeping each other company.

What a way to start Spring Break. After spending Wed. through Sat. in KY we are finally back home and trying to catch up on sleep, laundry, and getting back into a routine. I took a lot of pictures and will be posting some over the next few days. Also, Photo of the Day will resume tomorrow and I will just be posting that here, so stop by back. I would love to hear from any of you out there.

Also, a special thanks to:

  • Joe and Anne for the beautiful flowers.

  • Uncle Timmy and Tom for the fresh cut bouquet.

  • Bethany for the card and phone call.

  • And to anyone else who reads this blog that sent food, flowers, bibles, prayers, or thoughts our way. God bless you all and thank you.
