Ava - The Crawler

After much practicing over the last 2 weeks and lots of coaxing, Ava is finally crawling! Yay Ava! She finally did it yesterday afternoon in her attempt to secure the remote control. All I have to do is put a remote control some distance away, and there she goes for it. She crawls maybe 3 or 4 "steps," collapses, then gets up and goes again! I am just so excited! She is also trying to pull up on things. She is not strong enough to make it yet, but she is really trying.

These last few days, we have spent a lot of time outside, watching Squiggles, watching cars go by, and just enjoying the nice weather. We have some flowers in bloom that we looked at this morning. It is just beautiful here and I can't wait for leaves to hurry up and appear. Bradley is working on putting a swing together that my parents got us for Christmas so we can all sit outside with Ava and enjoy this beautiful weather!

For some reason, she still backs under this table.

What Ava's Listening To...

This is hilarious! You can go here to make your own tape - http://www.says-it.com/cassette/index.php It is so cool and you get your choice of colors and fun stuff! Hilarious!

Ava's Shots, Round 3

Ava had a Dr.'s appt yesterday for a check-up and her third round of shots. Boy let me tell you, she was in a mood before we even got there and it only got worse! Then, not only did they give her 2 shots and some oral type of vaccine, they did some blood work! It was really only a finger prick that they had to squeeze a lot of blood out of, but you would have thought we were killing her! It was so sad. I tried to tell her she should be happy because at least she got a Hello Kitty Band-Aid, but a 7 month old obviouslt doesn't care about the consolation of the Hello Kitty band-aid. Anyway, glad that is over. She goes back in 2 months just for a check-up and no more shots.

Anyway, the blood work was to check her blood for lead since we live in a house built before 1960. Yep, that's us, our house was built in 1924, so Ava qualifies for the lead test (and they also check for anemia since they have her blood). Anyway, the nurse starts to tell us about kids who have gotten high levels of lead in their bodies from things besides paint. Are you ready for this, one child had high levels of blood from chewing on fishing lures! Fishing lures! Apparantly his dad is an avid collector and they gave the baby a metal lure to teeth on. Idiot number 2 - This baby loved to chew on his mom's keychain which had a bullet on it! A BULLET! Are you kidding me! A civil war collectible bullet, but a bullet no less! Anyway, we hope Ava's lead levels are fine. We try to keep her away from lures and bullets, and we only let her eat paint chips once a day! But seriously, if we haven't heard from them by the end of the week it means her tests we fine. Keep your fingers crossed! Well, someone's awake, have a great day!
By the way, she weighs 19 lbs. and 5 oz. and is 27 and 1/2 inches long now.

Trip to KY, Part 3

Bradley, Ava, and I finally got to meet the newest addition to the family, Trayton. When we got there, he was asleep. Once he got good and awake, we took turns holding him and Bradley even fed him for a few minutes, which Ava did not like. She was very funny acting and didn't pay a lot of attention to him, but it was cute to see them together.

Then it was back to Grammy and Gramps house before we left. Ava took that opportunity to play with the dogs again and wore herself out. She was asleep before we even left Princeton to hit the parkway!

I LOVE Ava's face in this one! Cracks me up everytime I see it!

Trip to KY, Part 2

Ava got a chance to visit with her great-grandparents on Saturday. First she went to visit Mammaw Freeman and then she went to visit Nanny and Poppy Weaver. She got lots of attention of played a lot with all of them. Even though Ava loves dogs, she wasn't as fond of Nanny and Poppy's dogs. She didn't mind them, but didn't think they were very funny. She also took a ride on Mammaw's dog, Poncho, who was very sweet to her.

Trip to KY, part 1

Yesterday morning, Bradley, Ava, and I headed up to Union City for a consignment sale which has tons of children's clothes. We decided since we would be 30 minutes closer to KY already, to go ahead and spend the day with my family in KY. We had a very busy day which finally ended when we put Ava in bed at around 12:30. Man, were we exhausted! When I loaded my pictures today, I was shocked to see that I had taken 126 pictures in one day! So over the next day or so, I will posting in sections what we did on our little day trip!

It started out like this:

When we got done at the consignment sale, we headed up to Princeton to my mom and dad's (Ava's Grammy and Gramps). We got to meet my mom's new dog, Annabella. Of course, Ava loves dogs and she thought this one was hilarious!
Then I caught this sweet one of Ava and her daddy.
I was also very surprised that she didn't cry when she saw my parents again. She has been really clingy to me lately and not wanting to visit with people she doesn't see much, but she was fine. She cried just a little when we first got there, but after that, she was fine and she was a Grammy and Gramps's girl!

So stayed tuned for KY, Part 2 : Visiting with Ava's Great-Grandparents. Have a great weekend!
