10 on Tuesday - Ava- Soccer

  1. Poor neglected blog. Lately I have just been too tired to add much and my camera has not even been out as much.... Anyways...

  2. The countdown to the end of school is on.... 31 days left for students! Yay!

  3. Ava's dance recital date is quickly approaching. She will perform on the morning of May 21st.

  4. We had our second soccer game on Saturday. It was cold and rainy and we were shocked it wasn't cancelled. Ava was bummed because she wanted to play goalie the whole time and only got to play it for one quarter. So that made her mad and she really didn't try very hard for the rest of the game. Pair that with the mud she wanted to play in and how cold her hands were, and it was a pretty lackluster performance on her part.
She did stop one from going into the goal.

Most of the game she just randomly walked behind the rest of the pack...

5. I just finished up another class for my masters and started another one. I am halfway there and I will finish up the day before Harrison's birthday. Trying to keep my eyes on the prize because I am sooooo burnt out.

6. Harrison started at a new babysitter yesterday. He will be staying with her while Nana is in Nashville with Aunt Bethany. He seemed to do very well and I loved that smile when I came in to pick him up.

7. Aunt Bethany and Lester had their baby yesterday and Ava is soooo excited about her new cousin.

8. Ava is excited about Easter this weekend. She has been asking every morning for two weeks if today is the day. Tomorrow her classroom is having an egg hunt and she reminds me everyday that she has to take her Easter basket on that day.

9. Harrison is gaining words everyday. He loves to say: Mama, Dada, Ada, truck, ball, pee-pee, poo-poo, NO, Pop (almost everytime he sees a gray truck), and uh-huh (for yes). Love hearing all his daily words, but these are the ones we hear the most.

10. That's about all I have...watching the storms moving in as I finish this up... :(

10 on Tuesday - Valentine's Day Recap

10 on Tuesday - The Valentine's Day Recap Edition

1. We celebrated our Valentine's Day meal on Sunday night since Monday evening was going to be so crazy. I made the same menu as last year. We had Rachel Ray's Neapolitan pasta, Ceasar Salad, and garlic bread. Delicious.

2. I saw this recipe a few weeks ago for Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip cookies so I made some. So rich, but soooo good. I took the leftovers for my students at school, because I definitely don't need those laying around the house!

3. Ava was so excited about her first Valentine's party at school. She took Ring Pops, M&M's, and of course, her Valentines.

4. I made the wreath following a tutorial I saw here. Easy, but hard on my fingers!

5. I made Ava's shirt following a tutorial I saw here. I was working on hand-stitching around it when my needle broke and I didn't have another one. I just hot glued the bow on.

6. The kids loved their Valentines.

Ava with her Princess card from Aunt Bethany.

Harrison with his monkey from Daddy and I.

Ava in her Fancy Nancy dress she got from Daddy and I.

7. Ava says it like this "ValentiMes." And so do some of my high schoolers. :(

8. Ava loved making Valentine's for people. I didn't have any envelopes large enough to send, so some of you may be getting Valentines this summer.

9. Thank you for the recent comments you all have been leaving on the blog. I love reading them!

10. Guess that's it! I am planning on updating the LO of the blog soon since Ava is no longer 3 and 1/2 and Harrison is definitely bigger than 3 or 4 months!

10 on Tuesday - Catch Up

Here is a little blog catch up on what we may have missed out on over the holidays. It was just a crazy time around here!
  1. Here are pics from Thanksgiving that I never got around to posting. This year we enjoyed eating at Nana and Pop's house. It was a nice celebration and much better than last Thanksgiving when we found out we were having to stay an extra day in the hospital instead of getting to take Harrison home.

2. The week of Christmas, Ava's dance class invited the families in to watch a mid-year review. The kids had been practicing for weeks and weeks. True to Ava style, she pretty much did her own thing. In fact, my mom and I watched the video last week and I thought we were going to die laughing. Ava is at least a beat or 2 behind everyone if she even does the motion at all.

3. Right before Christmas break, Ava's preschool classes sang two songs at the school Christmas program. Ava was super cute to watch and I loved hearing her practice beforehand.

Just for the record, she was singing that Santa Claus had a cherry nose....

4. Sickness update - We seem to be on the mend at our house with all of the ailments we have had. The kids both go back to the dr this week for rechecks. I hope this mess is on its way out!

5. Ava got her progress report from school last week. She has mastered all areas except...you guessed it; following classroom rules. Her teacher even noted that her letter-sound correspondence was amazing!

6. Harrison - This boy loves to eat. In fact, until recently he LOVED to eat peanut butter. However, the other night after eating some, his eyes turned red, his face swelled, and he developed hives. I am afraid that we may have a peanut allergy that has developed. We are going to talk to the dr about it at this week's checkup.

7. Project Life - Last year in February, I bought a Project Life kit. You can check out more info about these at http://www.beckyhiggins.com/ . The basic premise is to document your life with a photo a day for a year. I did well for the first month last year, but since it took so long for me to get my kit, I faltered with getting it in place. This year, I am on the ball. We are a week in and I hope I can keep it up. I will post some pics later.

8. Harrison - He isn't the book lover that Ava was at this age. He is just too busy to sit still, but he is captivated by touchy feely books. He loves books that you can rub and feel all of the different textures. He has a favorite right now, Curly's Friend, and he flips through it a lot.

9. Ava - still loving Fancy Nancy. We read and reread Fancy Nancy books and she loves the Fancy Nancy doll that Grammy and Gramps got her for Christmas.

10. Netflix -I am on my 1 month trial and loving it. We have done Netflix before, but I found it hard to watch and return the DVD's quickly enough to make it worthwhile. Now that I have my school ipad, we can stream instantly and I love using it. Ava even watched things on it and loves it. And I will admit that my latest obsession is the show "Friday Night Lights." Bradley makes fun of me, but I LOVE it!

10 on Tuesday...well Wednesday

I am starting this post on Monday because it is the beginning of another crazy week her at the Rogers' house. The week that school late is out for a break is always a rush, but so blessed when it finally arrives!

  1. Our weekly rundown is this: Monday - Ava cheer, possibly choir/band Christmas concert, Tuesday - Ava cheer, Wednesday - Ava - church Christmas party, Thursday - Ava cheer at TOMS middle school game, Friday - last day of school !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! - Saturday - Christmas in KY at Nanny's house! I know that sounds crazy, but I know there are some things that I am forgetting!
  2. Speaking of Christmas - I have to go and buy gifts for Ava for her Christmas party and all of her different teachers.
  3. I just completed my 2nd class in my Masters program, and I currently have a 4.0 gpa. Yay!
  4. Harrison's vocabulary is getting a little broader. He is now saying bye-bye, momma, dada, baba (bottle which we just took away), cat, uh-huh, and outside. Of course, he always throws out the "Ta" which stands for anything. Love him!
  5. It snowed on Sunday and Harrison was so amazed by it. He stared out the window for the longest time watching it. Ava wanted to go out and play, but there just wasn't enough of it and it had mostly melted by afternoon. It was beautiful while it lasted though.
  6. There is the possibility for winter weather tonight (aka, freezing rain) and I just want it to go away. I don't want a day off so close to break! That's a waste!
  7. The sickness is creeping into our house. Bradley has lost his voice and has a horrible sore throat. Last night he felt awful and this morning was the same. Please, God, not so close to Christmas!
  8. I have been keeping up with my December Daily book. I need to take some pictures of it and post. It is really coming along and I love it!
  9. We have been playing the Wii like crazy lately. Mario, enough said....
  10. Ava will be playing handbells at church on the 19th and the 24th. You are invited. She is fun to watch... :)

10 on Tuesday - +Halloween Wrap Up

1. Last Thursday we attended the Fall Festival at the high school. Ava's favorite thing, crawling through a tent searching for a rubber spider amid a bunch of trash. She played 3 times. Guess who found the spider.... Yours truly! I played, too! :)

Ava eating her cookie creation.

2. Last week Ava's school raised $14,000 for the PTO. Part of that money came from what they call the Funky Junky Funtober Sale. Ava and I made cookies to sell at the booth.

3. Pumpkin Carving is a big deal here! This year we carved the Harry Potter symbol, a Mickey Mouse, The Princess and the Frog, and a regular Jack O'Lantern. Too bad our Cheshire Cat from the Halloweenie Roast didn't last.

4. I made this to add to our holiday decor...

5. Harrison and Ava have both been sick and running fever. Today I actually took off work to stay home with them. I am hoping they are on the mend.

6. I have finished my first class in my Masters program and currently have a 4.0 GPA. So far in my 2nd class I have made A's on all assignments! :)

7. In less than 1 month, my baby will be 1!!!!!!!!! I can't believe it! His birthday party will be the weekend after Thanksgiving.

8. Ava is participating in this year's Little Choctaws cheerleading squad. Her first performance is November 23rd. I am anxious for that!
9. Ava will be singing in church for the first time this Sunday. She will be singing with other members of the church youth group for Youth Sunday.
10. That's all I have!

10 on Tuesday - Wednesday Edition

1. Had lots going on lately and not a lot of free time. Ava and Harrison have kept me busy, busy, busy.
2. We had a low key father's Day around here. Bradley slept in and then we had a lazy day. (Well, except for that photo session I threw in there. More on that later!)

3. I spent a total of about 10 hours at the movies yesterday. Ava and I met some friends at the $1 Summer movie (Ice Age) and then I met some friends for the marathon Twilight/New Moon and midnight Eclipse. It was lots of fun! (Ava and her friend, Lindsey. The funny note Bradley had made as I was leaving for the theatre. FYI- I am SOOOOO Team Jacob!)
4. Harrison has turned 7 months old. I finally did a 6 month session with him which I will share later.
5. Ava has been working on preschool skills using the computer. It is a great tool for her and gives her a little break from Harrison and keeps her occupied.

6. I have stayed really busy with photo sessions this summer so check out my photography blog if you haven't in a while.
7. We finally got a chance to go see Toy Story 3 and we all loved it. I cried twice- at the beginning and at the end!

8. The other night Ava was so exhausted that Bradley found her asleep on the floor of her room.

9. This weekend for the 4th we will be having some company. Grammy and Gramps are coming for a visit and Aunt Bethany is coming home.
10. Ava and Harrison have both read 53 books for the Summer Reading program! I am so happy that Ava is enjoying it!
