She hijacked my birthday cake!

That's right folks, Ava tried to steal my cake. She loves cake (wouldn't have known that from her first birthday) and can say 'cake' pretty plainly. Her little eyes lit up when we took the cake out of the box and then the fight was on. I did manage to get some of my own without the little one hogging it all (and I am not just talking about Bradley, the cake fiend) and it was tasty. Bradley chose a Care Bears theme for me this year and it was a cute cake.

Here's a birthday thank you sum up! Thanks to these folks!

  • Stacy - Love the adorable Easter sign and you have the distinction of being the first to wish me a Happy Birthday!

  • KB - One of my students actually sent me flowers and that really just brightened my otherwise story (it really was!) day.

  • Uncle Earl and Aunt Rosemary - Thank you for the card.

  • Bethany - I can't wait to get my pedicure! Just have to wait until closer to spring so I can show my toes!

  • Joe and Anne - Thanks for the money. You know I'll use it!

  • Bo and Mike - Thanks for the card. Yours will be coming when we finally get to celebrate next weekend!

  • Grant - Thanks for the e-mail. I hope you had a wonderful 2-5 birthday as well and I promise I will e-mail you back!

  • And I know that I should have some more things coming next weekend when I go home to celebrate. Don't want anything left out so I will post those next weekend!

And to my husband, thanks for the cake and I can't wait for my camera bag to get here! I love you!

Thanks to everyone, I love you all!

Whew, it's been a long, rough week...

I know my blogs have been neglected very badly. We have just been going nonstop and I have not really had a chance to take pictures over the last few days so my other blog has been severely mistreated.

As you all know, Tuesday was my birthday and some of that was spent in our storm shelter and Anne and Joe's basement. My birthday dinner was excellent, but the downside was that it was funeral food provided by the ladies of the church. We did have cake (which I am downloading the pictures as we speak), but in between the storms and Aunt Mary's death, it was a pretty drab birthday as far as birthdays go.

Wednesday and Thursday we did funeral things and stayed out late at night, which leads me to where I am now. Hovering on the edge of the flu and exhausted beyond belief. Today was supposed to have been Bo's and my birthday party at Nanny and Poppy's but we rescheduled due to my sickness. So, I am taking it easy, trying to catch up, and just relaxing today. I should be back later with pictures from my birthday!

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me...

A nice little birthday gift for me. We are getting out of school today at noon... due to severe weather. I should get home in time to hunker down in the storm shelter with an 18 month old (or almost 18 months). Oh the joys of turning 28....

On a Side Note

Don't forget tomorrow is Super Tuesday! Wish I would have remembered to register to vote! (Note to self, change voting address soon, so I can vote in November!) I'm hoping Ava will get to sport this shirt soon! Well, that's my PSA.

*this message is in no way endorsed by my husband. In fact, in the back of my mind I can already hear him telling me how stupid this is. Gotta stick to my guns though! She supports that teachers that NCLB sucks! I was rooting for her before, but definitely rooting for her now!*

P.S. This size and other sizes can be purchased at http://www.thisnext.com/item/680FDAC6/A-Womans-Place-Is-In-The-House

This is what 11:00 PM after the Superbowl looks like...

I should have warned you that it was disturbing!
Ava has been sick since Friday cutting her two top eye teeth. This set has been the most miserable yet. Not only is she running fever, coughing, and constantly snotting, but the level and amount of sleep we are getting in our house is very slim. We are just worn out and Ava is so tired to.
A highlight of our weekend was a little Superbowl get-together with Stacy, Jonathan, and JonThomas. Even though Ava didn't feel good, when JonThomas walked in, it was like someone flipped a switch. They played and played and for a few minutes, I think she forgot how sick she was. We ate a ton of excellent food, laughed at commercials, and rejoiced when the Giants won. (Not that we're Giants fans, but I think we all just hate the Patriots! Dirty cheaters!) All in all it was a pretty boring game. Ava has been on a hunger strike eating just enough to keep a bird alive, so I was pretty surprised when she threw a fit for a jalepeno pepper on my plate. After fussing for several minutes, wise old Daddy said, "Let her have it." So I did and she regretted that decision. Oh, if we could have had that face on film. That would have been a funniest home video. Not to mention the trying to get the taste off her tounge and trying to rub her tongue on everything! Priceless! I hear what you are saying, and yes, I guess we are mean, but I think she learned a lesson. Mommy knows best...LOL! Not!
So best commercial for me was the Thriller lizards for some "life drink" or something. Cute commercial. My other fave can be found on http://www.reebok.com/ and is just an online commercial. The Patriots were set to tie a record set by the Dolphins in 1972 for a perfect, no losses season. Apparently every year, that team gets together and celebrates that still hold the record for that. Check out the commercial, it is cute. However, I wish they would post the other version, just so we could see what would have happened.
Anyway, I guess that's it for tonight. I have tons of pics to catch up on, so I am hoping to sneak in a few pictures everyday and get caught up. I am hoping to get my POTD blog caught up soon. I have been taking my pics, just have to get them posted! Hope everyone had a great weekend and Groundhog Day (and for Pete's sake, I hope it didn'tturn out like that sucky Bill Murray movie!). Anyway, love to all!
p.s. spell checker isn't working and I tend to type fast with errors, so forgive me. You know what I mean!

Sad News

Bradley's aunt, Mary Neely, passed away yesterday. Funeral services will be held on Thursday. Please remember our family in your thoughts and prayers this week.
