Both kids participated in the 1st Annual Newbern Library Reading Run on March 31st. Harrison competed in the 1-2 year old division and Ava was in the 4-5 year old division. It was a beautiful (read - HOT) day and at first I was wrangling the two kiddos until Bradley got there.
Harrison's race was first. When we got down on the starting line, he was raring to go. I was afraid to put him down because he may start before time. However, once it was time to go, he was more concerned with looking around and being cute than he was with running. :)
Ava ran one lap around the track (1/4 mile) and she was pumped about it. There were a lot of kids in her age group and she was ready to go. She took off and was in 3rd for about half the lap, but she burned out too soon. I ran beside her the last part so that she would finish, but overall, I was very proud of her. I thought she did a fantastic job. :) According to her, it was awful and she never wants to do that again. lol
