The Princess and the Frog

Ava and Harrison dressed up as The Princess and the Frog for Halloween this year. We had a very weird Halloween because Ava was not really feeling well and had been running a fever early in the day and complaining of a tummy ache when it was time to trick or treat. Needless to say, the photos definitely reflect that and I have very few to show for the night. Ava's friend Lindsey did join us for trick or treating, but unfortunately for us, there were so many trick or treaters that almost all the houses on our street had already given out all the candy by the time we got out. At our house we ended up with 302! That is a record for our house. Chalk that up to Dyersburg trick-or-treating on Sunday so they all headed our way for the Saturday night fun!

The kids were so cute that I wish I had more pictures!

Scarecrow Day

Last Friday was Scarecrow Day for the preschoolers and parents were invited to attend and help their child build a scarecrow. Ava was more interested in throwing hay than in building, but Daddy was on top of the scarecrow building! We ended up with a baby scarecrow that is dressed in some of Ava's baby clothes and whose head is too big for its hat!

Halloweenie Roast

I guess we will still call it the Halloweenie Roast, but roast weenies, we did not! We have been suffering from a drought so there is still a no burn ban which prohibited us from our usual meal of roasted hot dogs and smores. Bummer! But we did do chili and soup with homemade pimento cheese to take its place. Delicious.

We did the usual pumpkin carving which was fun, but not everyone wanted to participate in!
(Shame on you, party poopers!)
Here are just a few of the pics. I will post more later! :)

The adorable (and delicious) cupcakes that Bo made.

Day 1 of Fall Break

Last Monday was the first day of fall break. We have stayed very busy, but have been having a nice time. This is Ava's first "break" from school and she just doesn't understand why she hasn't been going to school. The first week was filled with many things like a dentist appointment, flu shots, dance class, and runny noses. This week will be more low key as far as running goes, but I have some pictures to work on (for clients) and this is the final week of the first class for my masters, so I have a HUGE project due. This coming weekend will also be our Annual Hallo-Weenie Roast (prob minus the weenies since we have had no rain!), so I will be busy preparing.

Did I mention that I really wish I had a maid to come clean my house? With these two kids, I feel like I am shoveling in the middle of a snowstorm!

Anyways, here are pics from last Monday, our first day of break...

Note the nasty nose running...

Just has to dig through everything... The dishes which are always backed up and which seem like we have 10 people living here.
Tired, fussy, and cuddled up with Pop.
Another glance at the massive junk pile that is our house! And Ava's glove balloon from the dentist (which Bradley popped and told her he didn't know what happened to it....)

The first pot of chili for the season which I thought we weren't going to get to have because the store was sold out of chili fixin's!
