I hope this week is better than last week...

Last week was a crappy week. It was the last week of school before Spring Break so we had lots going on with exams and grades being entered. I spent the beginning of the week preparing for a trip home in case my grandfather passed away. I got a call Wednesday morning that he was probably not going to make it through the night so I got a sub for exams and Ava and I headed up to KY. We made it to Nanny and Poppy's at about 7 that evening. Poppy looked at Ava and I and knew who we were. Nick and I spent some time reading to him, talking to him, and telling him funny stories. Ava kept running into the bedroom yelling, "Poppy! Shhhh!" He ended up passing away at 11:07 that night.

The next day, something that I had been dreading for a while came into play. We had to put Squiggles, my 15 year old rat terrier, down due to arthritis and old age. It was one of the most horrible decisions I have had to make. The light at the end of the tunnel was being with her along with my mother, father, and two aunts. It was heartbreaking on top of such a recent loss, but I have no doubt that Poppy and Squiggles are together keeping each other company.

What a way to start Spring Break. After spending Wed. through Sat. in KY we are finally back home and trying to catch up on sleep, laundry, and getting back into a routine. I took a lot of pictures and will be posting some over the next few days. Also, Photo of the Day will resume tomorrow and I will just be posting that here, so stop by back. I would love to hear from any of you out there.

Also, a special thanks to:

  • Joe and Anne for the beautiful flowers.

  • Uncle Timmy and Tom for the fresh cut bouquet.

  • Bethany for the card and phone call.

  • And to anyone else who reads this blog that sent food, flowers, bibles, prayers, or thoughts our way. God bless you all and thank you.
