Mother's Day Trip to KY

Last week we ended up out of school for 4 days due to flooding in the county. Ava, Harrison, and I enjoyed our time together and on Friday we headed up to KY to surprise my mom and dad with a visit.

It was Harrison's first night away from home and with him being such a horrible sleeper, it was a very unpleasant night. We did have a nice visit and Ava and Harrison got to spend time with Grammy and Gramps and also with my two grandmothers. Harrison had never met Mammaw, so he finally got a chance to see her. He also got a chance to meet his Uncle Nick Knock.

We stayed just the one night, but had a great visit.

Harrison at 5 months

Here's a look at Harrison at 5 months-

  • No surprise here, but he is a good eater. He currently eats rice cereal and oatmeal. He also eats bananas, applesauce, green peas, squash, green beans, and carrots. He detests peaches.

  • He has a funny, staggering crawl.

  • He always tugs at his ear while nursing. The doctor says that it's clear, but he still pulls it. Sometimes he falls asleep with it in his hand.

  • He is a COMPLETE Momma's boy. He is not content to let me leave the room.

  • When I walk into a room, he tries to swim towards me.

  • He is becoming more content to crawl and play for a bit on your own.

  • He is very interested in Ava's toys.

  • He likes to pull hair.

  • He tries to grab EVERYTHING. Most recently, it was handful of spaghetti off of my plate.

  • His favorite toys are his "noodle" and his chewing giraffe.

  • He is squeezing into 9 month clothes, but fits more comfortably into 12 month clothes.

  • Size 3 diapers

  • Size 4 shoes

  • He loves having his bottom gums rubbed.

Everyday Life

Just some recent everyday life shots.
This was Ava before we left for Nana's one morning. You can't see that she has 3 ponytails and she is wearing lip gloss. She loves to smear on her Ariel and Princess and the Frog lipstick.
When our washing machine broke, we were without a washer for about 4 days. They were the longest days ever. I am so thankful for this invention.
Straight up Momma's boy
Loving the bubble wrap

Note the fashionable hair style

Loving some sweet baby feet!

She said that she "worked hard" and needed grilled cheese and tomato soup.
You can barely see his road rash that he gets from crawling. Plus he has this beautiful slobber blister.

When he gets into her bed, he makes a beeline for the stuffed animals.

A Few Recent Photos

I am sooooo far behind right now. The end of April/beginning of May is the busiest time of year for me. I have been so busy with photo shoots and school that I have rarely picked up the camera. Harrison has turned 5 months old so I need to make a list of all of his new doings and post some pics of him. Just haven't had a chance. To hold you over, here are a few recent snaps.

This is just a crazy picture of what our house always looks like: Mess!
On Harrison's 5 month birthday, he ate carrots for the first time. They were a hit!

Growing so fast...

Harrison is just growing so fast and changing so much everyday. He is a much different baby than Ava was. In fact, he will be 5 months old this Saturday. It is hard to believe that that much time has passed. He has completely added to our family and he has changed Ava for the better. Anne and I remark quite a bit about her change in behavior and how improved she is. I thank God for both of them and I am so happy to have been blessed with them. Here are a couple of shots of Harrison that I never posted. He was 4 weeks old in these.

10 on Tuesday (well, I guess Sunday now...)

Let me just say that it has taken me a week to finish this post. But, here it is! :)

1. I mentioned in an earlier post that we had to switch Harrison's bathing location to the big bathtub. As soon as we released the baby betting, he realized he can kick and he loves to splash. So into the big bathtub for him. Ava also loves to help give him baths.

2. If you have been a reader of the blog for a while, you may remember that Ava used to make the face that I call the mush mouth. You can see Ava doing it here - Mush Mouth . Well, Harrison's is a little more complex and involves several different expressions. I call these expressions, The Maynard. It's just a Bobo/Tiff term and it applies in this case. Plus, I love hearing Ava say it!

3. I have had and have scheduled several photo sessions lately. Don't forget to check the photography blog every now and then to see what I am up to. Tiffany Rogers Photography

4. It seems we are on the mend from the sickness at our house (at least I hope so!). Harrison has recovered from his shots, Ava's doctor appt resulted with a diagnosis of just a cold, and I think Bradley and I are feeling better. But way behind from all the sickness...need to catch up. (The first pick is of Ava passed out one afternoon and the second was her boo-boo where the doctor took blood.)

5. Bradley and Ava are bubble fiends. Bradley said that he thinks our neighbors probably watch us and laugh at the way we constantly play with bubbles.

6. We have picked up the application for Ava to get into preschool. We are hoping that she gets in next year!

7. 35 and 1/2 days until Summer Break! (a few less as of the day of posting!)

8. Harrison is now a proud eater of Rice Cereal, Oatmeal, Green Peas, and Applesauce. (Plus, as of Wednesday: Squash) So far, he hasn't met a taste that he doesn't like!

9. Bradley has been busy getting ready for our vegetable garden for this year. I'm hoping we have a good year for veggies.

10. Ava's favorite food of the moment: Pot Pies!

Bonus- Harrison is crawling as of Wednesday!!!!! I have yet to see it, but Anne assures me that he spends most of his days doing it. I guess by the time I get home, he is too tuckered out! (By now, I have seen it!)
