10 on Tuesday - Wednesday Edition

1. Had lots going on lately and not a lot of free time. Ava and Harrison have kept me busy, busy, busy.
2. We had a low key father's Day around here. Bradley slept in and then we had a lazy day. (Well, except for that photo session I threw in there. More on that later!)

3. I spent a total of about 10 hours at the movies yesterday. Ava and I met some friends at the $1 Summer movie (Ice Age) and then I met some friends for the marathon Twilight/New Moon and midnight Eclipse. It was lots of fun! (Ava and her friend, Lindsey. The funny note Bradley had made as I was leaving for the theatre. FYI- I am SOOOOO Team Jacob!)
4. Harrison has turned 7 months old. I finally did a 6 month session with him which I will share later.
5. Ava has been working on preschool skills using the computer. It is a great tool for her and gives her a little break from Harrison and keeps her occupied.

6. I have stayed really busy with photo sessions this summer so check out my photography blog if you haven't in a while.
7. We finally got a chance to go see Toy Story 3 and we all loved it. I cried twice- at the beginning and at the end!

8. The other night Ava was so exhausted that Bradley found her asleep on the floor of her room.

9. This weekend for the 4th we will be having some company. Grammy and Gramps are coming for a visit and Aunt Bethany is coming home.
10. Ava and Harrison have both read 53 books for the Summer Reading program! I am so happy that Ava is enjoying it!

Pirate Day

Last weekend we attended Pirate Day at the library. After waiting in line for about 40 minutes Ava refused to ride through the parking lot on the pirate ship. She did finally consent to standing in front of it for a picture. This is the same pirate that Ava has met before at Depot Days named Captain Huck. You can read about him here - Captain Huck She was very skittish of him. I am starting to think maybe she just finds pirates scary because a couple of days ago at the puppet show they had some pirate puppets and Ava tried to hide behind me because she was scared. Good thing she wasn't this skittish when we were at Disney World!

Ava's name and Harrison's name
Excited to see her first glimpse of the pirates

Princess Ava

One day Ava spent part of the morning dressed as Snow White. She rolled out of bed and wanted to dress up, ratty hair and all!

I've said it once...

and I'll say it again... this kid is the nastiest eater ever!

Now that Harrison is venturing into more solid foods (puffs, biter biscuits, bananas, apples) he is nastier than ever. Most nights at supper it is a free for all on how messy he will get. In fact, most nights I completely strip him down to his diaper before he gets in the highchair. I have got him to wear a bib a few times lately, but it is his hand that do the majority of the mess. He can't keep them out of his face. It is like I need to retrain him to feed him! He loves food, but of course we all knew that already!

Ava Happenings

This is a post about all the little happenings with Ava right now. She has been doing a great job as a big sister and we have had fun lately doing different activities that Ava enjoys. We have done a lot of things lately at the public library in town. She loves going there for story time and reading lots of different books. She actually does a good job of behaving and participating and it is great to see her socializing with other kids.
Here she is with her first library card.

Pretending to be Marie from the Aristocats.
Heading out to swim with Jenna.

She is very apprehensive of the water and only came in a few times and then only because I tricked her.

Meeting Leona from the PBS show "Between the Lions." Ava was scared at first, but by the end of the hour she went up by herself.
Making her Uncle Sam hat to celebrate Flag Day.

Harrison Videos

Here are 2 new videos of Harrison. The first one is of him doing his little backwards booty scoot. He sits up and scoots backwards across the floor.

This second one is of him growling at Zoe and then she has had enough. I ran out of film, but he kept growling and she kept smacking. ;)

The Conversation with Ava

This particular conversation went a little something like this:

(Set the scene- Harrison had just spit up while I was holding him. Ava comes to the rescue...)

Ava: Momma, I just cleaned up all that spit up off the floor that Harrison did.

Momma: Ava, hold still while I get the camera.

Ava: Why?

Momma: Just because....

Ava: Momma, what are you taking pictures of?

Momma: (laughing uncontrollably and thinking that a freak out is coming)

Momma: I'm taking pictures of your hair....

Ava: Why?????

Ava: What is that?

Momma: Harrison spit up on your head too...

Ava: Get it off! Get it off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mommy..... (insert lots of crying here...)

and here...................

and anger here....
Ava: Mommy, why you make me do that?
Mommy: (just more laughing....)

Too big for his britches

Harrison started pulling up onto furniture right around the day he turned 6 months old. I wanted to catch this milestone on film so I waited for him to pull up and grabbed the camera. When I called his name, he turned to look at me and then a second later he decided to come towards me. And then I think he realized "Uh, oh! I can't walk yet!" The next picture would have been his face hitting the ground because that is where he went; straight down onto the ground. Poor baby! He is trying to be too big for his britches and grow up too fast!

Harrison at 6 months

Here is a look at Harrison at 6 months:

  • You are a big boy! You weigh 20 pounds and 5 oz and are 28 and 3/4 inches long.

  • You wear 12 month clothes, but an 18 month also fits, and 24 month onesies do the trick too.

  • You LOVE broccoli and chicken baby food.

  • You are addicted to baby "puffs" and shove them into your mouth by the handful.

  • You are a Momma's boy!

  • You squeal a lot and like the sound of your own voice. You also like to growl.

  • You wear size 3 diapers, but will be going into a 4 as soon as we run out of 3's.

  • You love to cuddle.

  • You love the outdoors.

  • When you see Ava, your face lights up.

  • You have 2 teeth on bottom.

  • You are learning to use a sippy cup.

  • You usually don't sleep through the night.

  • You have outgrown your car seat!

  • You stick your tongue out a lot, especially when you are focused on something.

  • You crinkle your nose in one of the sweetest faces!
